Dr. Scholl is a highly accomplished Global Senior Information Security Risk Manager qualified by 20+ years of experience in multiple industries. Dr. Scholl earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University. He also completed an Internet Law Program at Harvard University, and holds CISM, CISSP, and CHP security certifications.
In 1991, Fred founded Monarch Information Networks and advises trusted business on how to protect their information. Clients include: Dow Jones, JP Morgan Chase, Solomon Smith Barney, McGraw-Hill, Merrill Lynch, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and many other well-branded corporations. He is acknowledged as a subject matter expert in information security best practices, information security operational procedures, compliance and audit compliance management, threat and vulnerability management, corporate security strategic planning, security risk evaluations, security and privacy requirements analysis, and Sarbanes Oxley, JSOX, and HIPAA. Moreover, he has substantial knowledge and expertise in LAN and WAN technologies, Internet e-commerce systems, and Internet and optical fiber communication technologies.
Dr. Scholl was retained as the Senior Manager of Information Security and Control for Nissan Americas from 2006 to 2008. In this leadership role, he led a six-person IT Security and Compliance Team in charge of safeguarding IT assets including more than 19,000 PCs, and established Nissan America’s first Enterprise Security Program. Previously, he co-founded Codenoll Technology Corporation in 1980, and served as a Senior Vice President and Board Member until 1991. As a visionary and forward-thinking executive, he played a pivotal role in the company being listed on NASDAQ.
Career accomplishments also include 13 US patents related to network technology and fiber optics. Dr. Scholl has presented or authored over 30 publications on security, privacy, and data communications systems. His work has been featured in notable publications including NY Times, Business Week, Network Magazine, Business Communications Review, LAN Magazine, Data Communications, and CRN.
Dr. Scholl is recognized as an expert in his discipline, and has served as an expert witness on 15 occasions. He has been retained by law firms such as Sullivan & Cromwell, Fish & Richardson, Bryan Cave, and many others. He has provided expert witness testimony related to unauthorized use of network resources, service level agreements, Internet trespassing, e-commerce, forensic analysis, and other information security related matters.
His career is also complemented by numerous honors and professional activities. He is currently a member of The Advisory Council, was an Adjunct Professor at Polytechnic University for eight years, and was elected Community Outreach Director of Middle Tennessee’s ISSA Chapter in 2009. Earlier in his career he was a member of several prestigious publications including “Who’s Who in the World”, “Who’s Who in Frontiers of Science and Technology” and “International Who’s Who in Optical Science and Engineering”.
