The Challenge

Complying with the HIPAA Rules involves many steps and considerations. Knowing what policies and procedures need to be created along with how to go about drafting, revising and communicating them can be a daunting task for even the largest organizations.  One of the essential requirements of the HIPAA Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Rules is to have appropriate policies and procedures in place.

Every one of the OCR Audit Protocols (77 for Security Rule; 78 for Privacy Rule and 10 for Breach Notification Rule) calls for the auditors to “inquire of management as to whether formal or informal policies or procedures or practices exist” to meet the requirements of that Standard and / or Implementation Specification. CEs and BAs must have policies and procedures that address the applicable provisions of the HIPAA Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Rules.

Learning Outcomes

The HIPAA Policy and Procedure design and development process presented in this webinar has been used by organizations of all sizes and is purposefully designed to be used by the largest CEs and BAs (e.g., hospitals, health plans, care management firms, etc) to the smallest CEs, BAs and subcontractors (e.g., small medical practices, clinics, dental offices, medical billing companies etc.).

No matter where you are in your HIPAA compliance journey, you will benefit from learning about

  • The requirements of the HIPAA Rules for documentation and Policies and Procedures
  • How the OCR Audit Protocols address this requirement
  • The HIPAA Security, Privacy and Breach Notification Final Rule policy framework
  • How to actually design and develop security policies
  • Available ToolKits™ to jump-start your policies and procedures development program
  • All registrants will receive a copy of all slide materials.
