Meredith joined Henry Ford Health System in 2003 after completing a consulting engagement with Health Alliance Plan where she served as a HIPAA Project Manager beginning in late 2002. For 21 years, Meredith has held various staff and leadership positions ranging from being a Data Manager to a Management Consultant. She is a strategic leader who is not just interested in processes, goals and objectives but most of all she is passionate about her greatest assets…her human capital. Her success has been attributed to her ability to manage large-scale complex projects that cross-functional areas within integrated delivery systems while advancing the skill-sets of her team members.
Meredith is a trusted results-driven leader responsible for several system wide initiatives such as the development of the Sanctions Screening Program, Compliance Education Program, Privacy & Security Education Program and the Compliance Hotline Implementation. In her role as Chief Privacy Officer, Meredith had the ultimate responsibility for designing and leading the Henry Ford Health System’s Privacy Program, which encompassed their Code B (Data Breach Response) Program. Most recently, along with the Chief Technology Officer, she co-led the development and implementation of the iComply Program, an organizational first, which assisted all workforce members in safeguarding and protecting System information through technology, policy and education.
In 2012, her role was expanded to include leadership responsibilities for Information Security, which has led to her being promoted to the Chief Information Privacy & Security Officer for Henry Ford. The Information Privacy & Security Office serves as the home of the Information Privacy Services, Information Security Services, Network Security Services, IT Audit & Risk Management Services and Identity & Access Management Services teams. Collectively, this office creates and maintains a culture of confidentiality for Henry Ford and establishes protections for all sensitive data used, stored or disclosed by the organization. Throughout the years, Meredith has become a thought leader in the privacy & security industry and is a sought after conference speaker where she shares her 13 year journey at Henry Ford of “taking care of patients” without ever touching them. Her sensitivity to the operational needs of the business helps her guide the objectives of her team to ensure that the clinical operations are successfully married with the technology or regulatory requirements.
She has been a member of the Health Care Compliance Association and the International Association of Privacy Professionals since 2004 where she has demonstrated her commitment to compliance by holding dual certifications in healthcare compliance and privacy. She is also certified as a HealthCare Information Security & Privacy Practitioner. She is a member of HIMSS, Inforum, the PHI Protection Network, the Michigan Council of Women in Technology and she holds leadership positions with the Detroit CISO Executive Summit, the Michigan HealthCare Cybersecurity Council and the Medical ID Fraud Alliance. She is passionate about empowering women and minorities to embark upon careers in technology especially in information security where those populations are not very well represented. She has a unique perspective and she is always open to sharing her learning journey with others.
Meredith is a proud alumna of the University of Detroit Mercy where she received her Master’s in Health Services Administration (1997) and her Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems (1994).
