He speaks and writes extensively on HIPAA and HITECH privacy, security and information risk management matters and is a recognized HIPAA-HITECH data security and regulatory compliance expert.
Mary Chaput, MBA, HCISPP, CIPP/US, CHP
Chief Financial and Compliance Officer, Clearwater Compliance
Currently Mary serves as Chief Financial and Compliance Officer for Clearwater Compliance LLC. Previously, as Compliance Officer in a national health care company, Mary was involved with the protection of 500 terabytes of health data belonging to approximately 40 million Americans.
Mary participates actively in HIPAA-HITECH related discussions and is an active member of the ANSI PHI Project Financial and Framework groups.
David Finn, CISA, CISM, CRISC
Health Information Technology Officer, Symantec
David is the Health Information Technology Officer for Symantec. Mr. Finn has more than 30 years’ experience in the planning, management, and control of information technology and business processes. He is focused on enabling operating efficiency and deriving business value through the optimization and control of technology. Mr. Finn’s key skills include IT Governance and Control, Project Management, Systems Selection and Implementation, Business and IT Partnering, and IT Audit, Control, and Security.
Mr. Finn has presented nationally and internationally on such topics as project management, professional leadership and staff development, and privacy and security. He has contributed to or written articles on IT Management, Disaster Recovery and Security for such as journals as CIO Digest and Baseline.
Jon Stone, MPA, PMP, HCISPP, CRISCVP, Product Innovation
Jon has a unique breadth of experience with a combined 25 years’ experience in healthcare, working in the provider, payer and healthcare quality improvement fields. For the last 15 years Jon has provided strategic leadership for compliance and healthcare technology projects involving the most sensitive ePHI for companies such as CIGNA, Healthways and Ingenix. In addition, he has done extensive consulting in process improvement for HIPAA, healthcare outcomes, business operations, the Systems Development Life Cycle and IT operations. He is Clearwater’s VP of Product Innovation, and helps provide HIPAA Security and Privacy SaaS (Software as a Service) for the healthcare industry.
Jon has a Master’s in Public Administration and Health Care Regulatory Policy. He is certified as a Project Management Professional and has a certification in Project Management for Information Systems from the University of Colorado.
Mitchell Thomas, Chief Security Officer for HealthSouth
Mitchell brings more than 25 years of combined business, security, engineering, and information technology experience. Mitchell is also a military reserve officer currently functioning as the US Cyber Command’s Joint Operations Center Battle Captain. Previous positions include Vice President of Security Operations at Epsilon, Security specialist with NorthropGrumman, and Air Force Cyber Command’s Senior Duty Officer & Chief of Mission Systems Division. He has served with the USAF and defense contractors in multiple IT and cyber security related programs within the operational and intelligence communities. Mitchell has a bachelor’s degree in business engineering from Texas A&M Kingsville, a BBA in information systems from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a master’s degree in information systems from Lesley University.
