Empowering the next generation of Information Risk Management professionals

Giving a little back…

Last Fall we started working with Ferris State University (FSU), a designated National Security Agency Center of Academic Excellence (NSA CAE) on an innovative program to help students learn the best practices around information risk management.

We provided our IRM|Analysis™ software free of charge for classroom student use under a new Education Collaboration Agreement. The IRM|Analysis™ SaaS application is used by hundreds of organizations today and automates a large part of the NIST Risk Management Process (Frame, Assess, Respond, Monitor).

Their risk management courses, using IRM|Analysis™ were a huge success. The students derived great value from the software and found it very easy to use; some of their many testimonials may be found in the case study below.

With this collaborative program, we’re seeking to give something back to the community AND help safeguard our nation’s digital information assets.

About Our Software

IRM|Analysis™ provides an approach and methodology to help organizations conduct a complete Risk Analysis.

It strictly follows the HHS/OCR guidance given for Security Risk Analysis and harnesses the power of the NIST risk assessment processes, covering 4 key stages in effective risk management:

  • Frame
  • Assess
  • Respond
  • Monitor

Case Study

FSU’s overarching objectives were:

  • Accumulate materials for academic field of study in Risk Assessment and Risk Response
  • Close the gap between academic course content and real world industry solutions and technology
  • Meet NSA/DHS objectives to create competent IA/CD professionals to meet the need to reduce vulnerabilities in the nation’s networks

Read the full case study to see how this NSA Center of Academic Excellence met and exceeded these objectives.

Integration of Clearwater software in my curriculum was an awesome success, as you will see from the student feedback. The ability to apply risk methodologies and use a high quality tool to drive lessons home is priceless. As always, I am honored to be working with you guys. Thank you for helping me educate the next generation of InfoSec professionals!
Jim Furstenberg, Assistant Professor Information Security and Intelligence, Ferris State University
Clearwater is a great tool for risk analysts to use in order to quickly, but accurately, generate detailedand complete risk analysis reports.
One thing I did learn about the Clearwater Compliance software is that they do not leave any stone unturned, which is great because it gives us the feeling of a real life scenario but on a much smaller scale.
